Bermuda is the northern most coral reef in the world. The Islands are not in the Caribbean but are in the North Atlantic Ocean 917 km east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, USA., and 1287 km north of the nearest West Indian Island.

Bermuda is officially a British overseas territory, but enjoy a high degree of self-rule. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II does act as their formal head of state and appoints a Governor to represent her in Bermuda.

The hottest part of the year is May through mid-October, when temperatures hover between 75°F / 23°C and 85°F / 29°C. During the winter months, temperatures average 70°F / 21°C.
